Trail Riding in the Toowoomba Area

Do you own a registered motorcycle and do you have a Dept of Transport Licence? Are you looking for somewhere, in the local area, to ride your bike with other like minded riders?

If you answered “yes” to these questions then why not apply for membership to the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club (TMCC).

TMCC 1915

First Club Run - January 30th 1915

The Toowoomba Motorcycle Club Inc was founded in 1911 making it one of the oldest Motorcycle Clubs in Australia. The TMCC was also one of four founding clubs of the Auto Cycle Union, now know as Motorcycling Queensland.

In 1974 the TMCC was given a lease by the Toowoomba Auto Club to conduct Moto Cross at Echo Valley, which the club did for over 15 years. During this period the Club built and established what was regarded as the best MX track in Australia. The Toowoomba Moto Cross Club (no affiliation to the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club Inc) is now the host Club at Echo Valley.

For the past 40 years the roots of the TMCC have been entrenched in trail and enduro riding, and promoting Moto Cross was just one element of motorcycling sport that we promoted. Over the years we have promoted Road Bike events, Trials events, State Enduro Championships, State Flat Track Championships, and of course trail riding activities.

The Club now mainly consists of ex Moto Cross and Enduro riders who have registered Enduro bikes, and we are looking for more members. The Club has easy access to State Forests including some private property, and monthly Club trail rides are planned for 2007. In the past we have had fully supported Club trail rides to Double Island point travelling via the State forest areas at Blackbutt, Kenilworth, Imbil and the Great Sandy National Park. We have travelled to Woodenbong in Northern NSW for 2-day Club supported rides, and members have recently travelled as far as Mt Buller and Cape York.

We also travel as a group to some of the Darling Downs trail rides. On these Club supported rides we use Club owned property such as our large quick shade, esky, bar-b-q, and generator. For Club trail rides we have 2 way radios and mobile phones. In future we are planning to have members undertake Qld Ambulance first aid courses to ensure the safety of our members. As we are affiliated with Motorcycling Queensland, any larger open rides we obtain MQ permits. The Club also has links with Australian Motorcycle Search and Rescue (AMSAR).

If you are keen to join us we have Club meetings which are held on the 4th Monday of each month in the Downs Motor Cycle Clubs rooms located in Water Street commencing at 7.30pm. Yearly membership is only $30. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
